OLLIE THE OWL
OLLIE THE OWL
For Anwen
Ollie the Owl regards the world ...
Impassively, without
blinking ...
Oh, how I wish I
were inside his head ...
To tell what
he is thinking.
Ollie the Owl sits
in the tree ...
Looking incredibly
wise ...
His wisdom comes
from his great, great age ...
And his lucent, luminous,
lustrous eyes.
Ollie the Owl gazes
around him ...
Without making a
sound ...
Whatever he's
thinking, I'm certain and sure ...
It must be something extremely
profound.
Ollie the Owl flies
down from his branch ...
Gently perches on
Anwen’s knee ...
And then he asks:
“What's for dinner?”
So he's no more
profound than you and me! ...
