HYGGE

For Paulette, my OMF Partner

Hygge is a delightful idea,

Comforting, cheerful, cosy, and snug.

Relaxing in front of a roaring fire,

Sinking feet into warm, woollen rug.

Perhaps cocooned in a cashmere sweater,

Relaxed and happy, that’s all it takes.

And, just to complete the special mood,

A friendly chat, with coffee and cakes.

Now, sadly, that’s where ME steps in.

It doesn’t like using energy.

It always succeeds in putting a stop

To any sort of activity.

Once in a blue moon, occasionally,

I’m lucky to have a short time with a friend.

Books, gardens, life’s small pleasures ...

Then, ME steps in, yells:” This must end!!”

And so, I drag upstairs to lie down,

Dismissed by ME’s peremptory yell.

I would love to consign FM and ME

To the deepest, darkest trenches of Hell!!*
