Who would wound an apple-tree??

It wasn't very big ...

The sapling had been snapped right through ...

Now, a stick-like, little twig ...

Yet ...

On this little, stick-like twig ...

Apple-blossom bloomed!

My heart soared when I saw this ...

The tree - reprieved, not doomed.
