HAPPY HOLIDAYS ...
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
To All My Dear Friends, (Of Any, And No, Religious Belief), Especially Those With M.E. And Other Severely-Life-Restricting Chronic Illnesses
I cannot help but think about
The Ghost of Christmas past ...
When I was well and healthy ...
Which, I just assumed, would last ...
Seasonal events in Norwegian Church ...
A wonderfully-Christmassy place to be
...
Adorned with annual gift from Norway
...
Enormous, elegant Christmas-tree...
Visiting the Christmas Market in Bath
...
Fragrances so varied and sweet ...
Gluhwein, stollen, lebkuchen ...
Permeating every street ...
Russian Ballet...
Christmas Concerts ...
Magnificent "Messiah" by Handel ...
So beautifully-atmospheric ...
Illuminated just by candle ...
Midnight Mass in lovely, old church ...
Weather often cold and icy ...
I'm no longer religious but, even so ...
It started Christmas very nicely.
Long, long walks in nearby woods ...
Fragrance of pineall around
...
Ideally, with a sprinkling of frost ...
Crisping, crunching on the ground ...
Or, better still, a sprinkling of snow ...
Scene dusted, as though with icing ...Inside a Victorian Christmas Card ...
So
appealing and enticing ...
Seeing family, seeing friends ...
Choosing the perfect gift and card ...
And now, I can't ... no energy ...
It's very painful ... and very hard ...
If looking back is painful ...
It's best to stay "in this day" ...
"This day" may not be what we hoped ...
But, really, it's the only way.
So, Merry Whatever everyone!
And a Very Happy New Year!
Let's hope '23 is a better one ...
To that, I'll give a heartfelt cheer ...
