TO JAN
As most of you will
know,
We are most often hidden.
But true friends
offer solace,
Unasked for and
unbidden.
When I lay in a
darkened room,
Supine on my bed,
“I will come and
sit with you,
No need to speak”,
she said.
“I can bring my
knitting,
Honestly, I don’t
mind”.
Unfailingly
sympathetic,
Generous and kind.
When I found it
difficult,
She offered to wash
my hair.
But, as I did it in
the shower,
No room for two in
there!
My friend was so
considerate,
So caring and so
selfless,
And she did not
forget me,
When I was lying
helpless.
THANK YOU, JAN
