THE LADY OF SITALOT, PART 2

(with apologies to Alfred, Lord Tennyson)

For Debby, of Open Medicine Foundation

She’s had her fill of doom and gloom.
Cards, poems, thrown around the room.

For she has been as one entombed,
And now she just must quit this room.

For she has heard that in the town
There is a brand-new Shopping Mall.

So many things that must be bought,
“And shall she buy them?”
“Yes, she shall”!

And so she drifts ‘long the canal,
And little other thought has she ...

Than that which is perhaps banal:
“Hm…. what will my first purchase be?”

My poor lady Sitalot,
Has, for some years, been sick-alot ...

But now she spies her Camelot,
And she intends to shop – a lot!
