Life has not been easy for you.

You’ve overcome so much.

Yet, you always have a smile,

And a kindly, gentle touch.

I thought I’d write a poem

About the things you love the most.

Firstly, living with your Mum

On the beautiful South Coast.

You love walking with your Dad,

And going for a beer.

You don’t drink yourself,

But you love the atmosphere.

You love football and, Saturdays,

You always support your team,

Shouting your encouragement,

And letting off some steam!

You play football yourself,

And have done for a while.

You might be talent-spotted

To play for Plymouth Argyle!

Your hard work helps the planet,

Such an important thing.

You put your heart and soul into

Renewing and recycling.

This year, you won a PLUSS** Award,

One of only four each year.

Absolutely amazing!

You deserve a great big cheer!

So, here’s to you, David,

You’re a hero – yes, you are!

And a wonderful person,

You really are a star!!
